Unreasonable Hospitality

"Hands..." "Yes, Chef!" "Behind..."

These phrases regularly ring out in our kitchen as we are all slightly obsessed with the Emmy Award-winning TV show The Bear.

At first glance, it may seem like a drama about running a restaurant in downtown Chicago.

It's actually about the intricacies of family, the pursuit of dreams, and the art of building a high-performing team.

Will Guidara, a Co-Producer on the show, has written a stunning book entitled Unreasonable Hospitality.

In it, he shares his journey of transforming Eleven Madison Park into the BEST restaurant in the world.

He introduces the principle of ‘Unreasonable Hospitality’ . ..the power of giving people way more than they expect…’

All businesses can adopt the principle of ‘Unreasonable Hospitality’

Last week Freestyle Innovation Ltd lost a project with a fantastic client and an amazing team that I was eager to work with.

I decided to be ‘Unreasonable…’.

I crafted an email expressing my disappointment but also my genuine hope for their success.

I included some helpful resources and templates that I believed could support them.

I received a warm response, thanking me for the materials and asking to discuss another project they’d like me to quote on.

It felt pretty good being ‘Unreasonable ..’
